We have been very lucky to welcome three new students to our class recently. Welcome to Tenyka, Jordan and Clinton. Tenyka is a very good runner, Jordan is a skilled climber and Clinton loves to play his X-Box 360.
This term, we got new class pets. Unfortunately, rhino beetles have quite a short life span and they have passed on. But, we now have two very cool adult stick insects, Bob & Sally and their baby Skittles and eggs that are waiting to hatch. We also have been given the opportunity to be involved in Deakin Science. As part of this, we each get our own fish to monitor, feed and observe. We wonder if our fish like to spend their time hiding in their plants or out playing in the open space in their tanks.
As part of Deakin Science, we have been learning about how rubbish can be harmful to our environment. In particular, we have learned how harmful fishing line can be as it can entangle animals. On Friday, we are going to go see the whales and visit our Seal the Loop location (Hopkins River) to see how the bin has helped fisherman safely dispose their fishing line. We are making a difference!
We have started learning about erosion as part of our inquiry. We can not wait to learn all about what makes up the surface of the earth as well as what human and natural activity causes erosion.
All students have been writing blogs of their own. Most weeks we reflect on what we have one at school for the week and then the students have a chance to write a ‘free blog post’ to practice their writing skills.
